History:
The XD series from McNaught Guitars started life because I wanted a really
cool guitar that would have many of the features I usually sought in a guitar. It's a dream come true to have a guitar maker (especially one
with David's talents) to have the belief and faith in me to represent his guitar line. My search for such a creation began with my love of the
"super strat" and then the many various forms it took. I really loved the 27-fret Hamer Californian from back in the 1980s and I wanted to start
there. I wanted something that wouild have access to the higher frets so the body would have to be offset a bit. I also wanted to have a guitar
available in both 6-string and 7-string form. David and myself started talking a few years ago about the possibility of him building one for me
and we came up with this very cool design. David is so talented and I have always been a big fan of his guitars and his work.
